Lifetime Friends

What's the best part about being an Airbnb host you ask? Making lifetime friendships.

Great time hosting our Canadian friends. We had many of fun evenings, sharing meals, sampling wine and appreciating Barb and Wade's co-hosting talents when additional guests arrived.

I also enjoyed making light of how I'd run a few errands and be exhausted while these two would climb a mountain, cycle ride a trail then come home and fix us all dinner. Best night was Barb's freshly baked, early birthday carrot cake gift. Yes indeed, we are lifetime friends.

We are writing you a note to thank you for our stay at The Shaggy Dog from February 10 to March 10, 2017. This was our second time staying at The Shaggy Dog, and we enjoyed a glorious 4 weeks of hiking, mountain biking, sunshine (and even a couple of rainy days) as well as time spent with what are now our Phoenix friends.

Accommodations at “The Dog Pound” are top-notch. Impeccably clean, full kitchen and even some arrival items stocked in the fridge and snacks to enjoy – the bottle of wine was a great touch! Fully appointed casita, kitchen completely stocked with everything you need for cooking and enjoying your own prepared meals - just as you would at home. There is an awesome walk in closet so you can just unpack and settle in, TV/Netflix/Wifi, washer/dryer…it all came in handy when we were staying for the month. We even had friends join us for a few nights and they were very happy in the second Queen bedroom at the back of the casita.

We always knew after a good day of hiking or mountain biking in the hills around Phoenix, that we would be returning to lots of fun and laughs with Terri and Steve and the doggies. As outdoor enthusiasts we so appreciated the access to amenities that the city has to offer from the north side of Phoenix. The McDowell/Sonoran Preserve Trails offer extensive hiking, and Brown’s Ranch Trails numerous intermediate level mountain biking adventures. There is also great access to several outlet malls for shopping, Spring Training MLB ball diamonds to catch a couple of games, and close access to other major arteries – Sedona was another hikers paradise. Groceries and happy hour supplies were always readily available at (Super) Fry’s, and our favourite Mexican restaurant was Manuel’s.

Off time was spent with Steve in his shop, lounging at the pool, cleaning up in the incredible outdoor shower and soaking sore muscles in the hot tub, happy hour at the outdoor bar, bbq access and an incredible yard with everything you need to spend the rest of your awesome Phoenix day in the outdoors. Terri and Steve are consummate hosts – anything you need at all, they’re always around to point you in the right direction.

We will be back again next year – can’t wait!
